Active Server Pages (ASP) is a Microsoft scripting technology that runs from Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (IIS). When an ASP script is requested by a web browser, IIS passes the request to the ASP engine. The ASP engine in turn reads each line of the ASP script, executes them, and outputs plain HTML to the client's web browser. With ASP development, interactive web pages and powerful web-based applications can be created for a wide variety of purposes.
